The School Feed allows admins, feed managers, and teachers to view all photos from folders they have access to inside SchoolCam.

How Photo Previews Work

SchoolCam does not store your school’s photos on our servers. Instead, all photos remain stored in your school’s Google Drive account.

When SchoolCam displays photo previews in the School Feed, it loads the images directly from Google Drive using the permissions of the currently signed-in Google account.

Because of this, SchoolCam requires:

Important Requirement: Active Google Drive Session

To display photo previews correctly, you must have another tab open in the same browser with an active Google Drive session.

For example:

  1. Open Google Drive in your browser
  2. Make sure you are signed in with your school Google account
  3. Keep that browser session active
  4. Open the SchoolCam admin portal in the same browser

SchoolCam will then be able to display the photo thumbnails directly from Google Drive.

Why This Is Required

SchoolCam uses secure Google Drive links to display image previews. Since the files remain inside your organization’s Google Drive, Google needs to verify that your browser session is authenticated and allowed to access those files.

This approach helps keep your school’s photos private and secure because the files never pass through or get stored on SchoolCam servers.
