The Root Folder is the main folder in Google Drive where SchoolCam creates and manages folders for your school. This includes:

In some situations, such as the start of a new school year, you may want to move your SchoolCam structure to a new location in Google Drive. The Change Root Folder feature allows you to point your school to a new root folder while keeping all existing files and folders intact.

When Should I Change the Root Folder?

A common use case is creating a fresh folder structure for a new school year. For example:

By changing the root folder, SchoolCam can create a new set of user folders in the new location while preserving all photos and folders from previous years.

How to Change the Root Folder

  1. Sign in to the SchoolCam Admin Panel.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Click Change Root Folder.

  1. Select the new Google Drive folder that will become the new root folder.
  2. Choose if you want to recreate user default folders and / or archive current folders (explained below)
